John Clay Benson was found guilty as charged of Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor following a jury trial at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse.  The two day trial began on August 19, 2019. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Justin Wooley and Charlotte Farshian. The Defendant was represented by Attorney Charles Brumfield. After the close of evidence, the jury deliberated for seven minutes before returning a verdict of guilty as charged. The District Attorney’s Office filed a bill of information charging the Defendant as a Habitual Offender based on his three prior felony convictions. 

Sentencing was conducted by Judge Stephens Winters on October 28, 2019.  Judge Winters found the Defendant to be a fourth felony offender. He sentenced the Defendant to 25 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
