The Office of the District Attorney prosecutes violations of state traffic laws occurring within Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes. This includes tickets issued by:
- Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office
- Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office
- Louisiana State Police (issued in Ouachita or Morehouse Parish)
- Various other agencies (for example: Wildlife and Fisheries, DOTD, etc.)
- Certain tickets issued by West Monroe Police Department are prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office and others are handled by West Monroe City Court. If you have questions, please contact the District Attorney’s Office at 318-388-4448 or email [email protected]
PAYMENT INFORMATION
To pay your traffic ticket, contact the District Attorney’s Office at the email address and/or numbers below. Not all traffic tickets are payable out of court. Some traffic offenses require a mandatory court appearance. Examples of such offenses include Reckless Operation, Careless Operation, Failure to Stop for a School Bus, and any offense where an accident with injury occurred.

Payment in full is required on or before the due date. Payment can be made either in person, by mail, or online. Money Orders, Cash, or Cashier Check are acceptable forms of payment. No personal checks will be accepted.

If paying by mail, please include a copy of your ticket and write the ticket number on your check or money order. If paying in person, please bring a copy of the ticket you are paying with you. Please note that paying your ticket constitutes to a guilty plea. Failure to pay your ticket will result in suspension of your driver’s license and an additional fee.
If you wish to contest your ticket, appear in court at the date and time indicated on your ticket or contact the District Attorney’s Office to request a court date.
Pre-trial Diversion
The Office of the District Attorney offers a Traffic Pre-Trial Diversion Program that could possibly keep the ticket from affecting your vehicle insurance. This program is open only to those who meet certain requirements. You are not eligible to participate if, for example, you received a ticket for any speed which is deemed excessive, or have had multiple violations in the last 2 years. Additionally, Pre-Trial Traffic Diversion is not available for non-payable offenses. You may be required to participate in an online or in person driving class.
If you are interested in participating in the Traffic Pre-Trial Diversion Program, please contact the District Attorney’s Office via the email links below. In your email, please include your name, ticket number, date the ticket was issued, the payment date, and the traffic violation. Once your request is reviewed, you will receive an email from the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office with further instructions. If you do not receive a response within 5 business days please contact the Traffic Division at (318) 388-4448 (Ouachita) or (318) 281-4907 (Morehouse) .
