Jarvis Taylor convicted of Second Degree Murder

The trial in the case of State of Louisiana v. Jarvis Taylor began Monday January 13, 2025, in the Ouachita Parish Courthouse. Taylor was charged with Second Degree Murder for the July 7-8, 2022, homicide of twenty-three year old Ebony Lewis. The trial concluded Wednesday, January 22, 2025, before a jury of twelve people. The jury deliberated less than thirty minutes before finding Taylor guilty as charged of the Second-Degree Murder of Ebony Lewis.

The case was tried before the Honorable Wendell Manning. First Assistant District Attorney Holly Chambers Jones and Assistant District Attorney Kalee Moore represented the State in the prosecution. The Defendant was represented by attorney Robert Noel. Second Degree Murder carries a sentence of life in prison. The Defendant will be formally sentenced at hearing to be scheduled by the Court. The victim’s family members will be given the opportunity to provide a statement to the court prior to the Defendant’s sentence being imposed.
